Which spools fit the Bambu Lab AMS: dimensions, materials, TPU

TL;DR
  • AMS: 50–68 mm wide, 197–202 mm diameter, plastic spools recommended.
  • AMS lite: 40–68 mm wide, 53–58 mm inner diameter.
  • FilamentBay 1 kg spool: 65 mm × 200 mm, 54 mm hub, plastic. Fits both.
  • TPU 85A–98A does not feed through any AMS; 72D does.

The published limits

Bambu Lab's wiki states the AMS supports spools 50–68 mm wide and 197–202 mm in diameter, and recommends plastic spools. The AMS lite page lists 40–68 mm width and a 53–58 mm inner diameter. Cardboard spools are discouraged because they shed fibre and drag on the rollers.

Materials the AMS will not feed

Bambu Lab lists flexible TPU below 55D as unsupported in the AMS and AMS lite. Print our 85A, 90A, 95A and 98A from the external spool holder; 72D feeds normally. Carbon-fiber and ESD grades feed but wear the AMS PTFE tubes faster, so check them every few kilograms.

Do 3 kg and 5 kg spools fit the AMS?
No. They exceed 202 mm diameter. Use the external holder or re-spool onto an empty 1 kg spool.
Does the AMS read FilamentBay spools automatically?
No RFID yet. Select the material and the FilamentBay profile in Bambu Studio manually.
